Washington Lands 2018 Forward Nate Roberts

Nate Roberts, the 6-foot-11 power forward from Brewster (NH) Academy, committed to Washington and head coach Mike Hopkins on Tuesday evening, in a video released via Twitter.

He also considered Syracuse and Nebraska after previously cutting UConn and Wake Forest. This year Washington brings in a solid four-man class of Jaylen Nowell, Hameir Wright, Nahziah Carter, and Nate Pryor.

“The Seattle environment is beautiful,” Roberts told D1VISION following his official visit to Washington last month (Sept. 1). The coaches and staff treated me with genuine love. I connected well with the players. The school itself would be a great fit as far as academics.”

According to 247Sports, Roberts is ranked as the No. 203 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 6 player from the state of Maryland. He joins Elijah Hardy, Jamal Bey, and Ed Chang, as the fourth commit in the Huskies’ 2018 class.

In addition to his Washington visit, Roberts also took official visits to Nebraska (Sept. 16) and Syracuse (Sept. 22).

“Nate has a very high ceiling,” Brewster head coach Jason Smith told D1VISION on Tuesday. “He has tremendous upside and potential. He’s able to shoot the ball well from distance and moves very well and fluidly for a 6’10+ player.”
