Villanova Lands 2018 Four-star Guard Brandon Slater


Fairfax (VA) Paul VI Catholic 2018 four-star shooting guard Brandon Slater is off the board to Villanova.

“First off I’d like to thank all of the coaches that took their time and recruited me,” Slater said in a release via Twitter. “It was a pleasure being able to talk to so many different schools with so many different opportunities for as a student and a basketball player.”

“It came down to the relationship between my family and all the close people behind me,” Slater told D1Vision. “It was largely due to the staff at Villanova has.”

Slater had unofficially visited Louisville, West Virginia and Villanova among others. Jay Wright beat out Miami, Louisville, and Maryland for the 6-foot-6 2018 product.

“I think I’ll be a great addition to an already powerful offense,” said Slater. “My friends and family told me it was completely my decision and wanted me to go wherever my gut was telling me.”

“Thank you to the teammates and lifelong friends I’ve made through this sport,” Slater stated. “Thank you to my friends and my family. But … I’ve decided to become a VILLANOVA WILDCAT.”

Slater is averaging 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.9 minutes per outing for Team Takeover (DC) on the EYBL Circuit.
