2019 Top Player Vernon Carey Jr Cuts List to Eight

Vernon Carey Jr.  a 6-foot-9 245lb power forward out of University School (FL) — has cut his list of schools to eight, via his Twitter account.

Carey has narrowed his list to Kentucky, Michigan State, UCLA, Kansas, Florida, Duke, North Carolina, and Miami. Carey is the No. 1 overall player for the Class of 2019, per 247Sports

Michigan State hosted Carey for an unofficial visit on September 30th. Coach Tom Izzo followed that up with a visit to see the five-star on October 12th. North Carolina’s Roy Williams was in to visit the young phenom on September 26th followed by Kansas assistant Norm Roberts who was in the following day.

Playing on the Nike EYBL circuit, Carey averaged 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game for Nike Team Florida this Summer.

Carey averaged a team-high 14 points to go with 6.2 rebounds per game for the gold medal-winning USA U16 squad at the FIBA Americas Championship in Formosa, Argentina. For his efforts, Carey was named the tournament MVP.

Duke currently holds 45% of the 247Sports CrystalBall predictions. Miami owns 36%, and Michigan State has 18%.
