Aaron Nesmith, the 6-foot-5 small forward from Porter-Gaud (SC) School, committed to Vanderbilt on Tuesday per Rivals. Nesmith took an official visit to Vanderbilt last month (Aug. 4).

“I’ve been waiting it out and waiting it out,” Nesmith told Rivals. “I see it now that the campus life felt right. Then the big thing is that Coach [Bryce] Drew, Coach [JakeDiebler, Coach [RogerPowell and Coach [CaseyShaw, the vision that they have for me makes sense and I feel I can get better there.”

According to 247Sports, Nesmith is ranked as the No. 104 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of South Carolina. He is the first commit in the Commodores’ 2018 class. Nesmith chose Vanderbilt over his final seven of Florida, Georgetown, Harvard, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Yale.

Nesmith took official visits to Vanderbilt and South Carolina (Sept. 6) before committing to the Commodores. Vanderbilt recently hosted 2018 big man Ignas Brazdeikis for an official visit (Sept. 15), and are in the running for players such as five-star point guard Darius Garland and five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford.
