Riley Battin, the 6-foot-9 center from Oak Park (CA) High School, announced his commitment to Utah on Thursday via Twitter. Battin’s commitment comes less than a week after his second official visit to Utah (Sept. 15).

“It’s a great fit,” Battin told D1VISION on Thursday about his commitment. “I love the coaching staff, and it’s a great opportunity to play in the Pac-12.”

According to 247Sports, Battin is ranked as the No. 222 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 22 player from the state of California. He joins Timmy Allen, Naseem Gaskin, and Charles Jones II, as the fourth commit in the Utes’ 2018 class. He chose Utah over his top four of Davidson, Ohio State, and Vanderbilt.

Utah has had an exceptional month on the recruiting trail, landing 2017 Devante Doutrive, 2018’s Timmy Allen and Naseem Gaskin, and JUCO Prospect Charles Jones II.

“I would be a versatile stretch four-man for them,” Battin told D1VISION following his official visit to Utah. “I would fit in perfectly. I love the coaching staff and it’s a great opportunity to play at the Pac-12 level.”

Playing with Earl Watson Elite on the Under Armour Circuit this summer, Battin averaged 12.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, in 17 games played.

“I think I’ll have an opportunity to come in and compete for playing time as a freshman,” Battin said Thursday.
