Timmy Allen, the 6-foot-6 small forward from Desert Ridge (AZ) High School, announced his commitment to Utah on Monday via Twitter. Allen’s commitment comes just a few days after his first official visit to Utah this past weekend (Sept. 15).

“Blessings on Blessings,” said Allen in a statement released via Twitter. “Thankful and excited for the next chapter. Mom’s always with me. Salt Lake City, I’m coming!”

According to 247Sports, Allen is ranked as the No. 123 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Arizona. He chose Utah over his top five of San Diego State, UCLA, Iowa State, and Texas Tech.

The Utes have been able to have massive recruiting success in September, landing 2017 guard Devante Doutrive, JUCO Prospect Charles Jones II, and 2018 guard Naseem Gaskin. He joins Gaskin and Jones as the third commit in Utah’s 2018 class.

Allen, who plays for the Compton Magic had a big spring and summer on the adidas circuit, boosting his stock and playing the best basketball of his career. Compton Magic coach Etop Udo-Ema spoke with Scout last month about what he likes about Utah for Allen.

“Coach K [Larry Krystkowiak] loves Timmy. It’s an awesome fit for Timmy. I think Coach K sees him as Kyle Kuzma reincarnated. It’s an awesome fit. They’ll be there until the end.”
