Tyger Campbell Decommits from DePaul, Reopens His Recruitment

La Lumiere (IN) 2018 point guard Tyger Campbell has decommitted from DePaul and will reopen his recruitment.

“First off I would like to thank DePaul University and the city of Chicago for their show of love and belief in me,” Campbell said in a release via his Twitter account. “After great consideration and with the full support of my family, I have decided to open my college recruitment effective September 1st. I am thankful to all the coaches, colleges, friends, and family that have stood by me during this journey. I am ready to embark fully into the process and make a well informed decision on where I will attend college.”

Campbell reclassified to 2018 and committed to DePaul and coach Dave Leitao back in early May. His commitment came soon after former La Lumiere (IN) head coach Shane Heirman was hired as an assistant on Leitao’s staff.

Prior to the hiring of Heirman, Michigan State was the frontrunner for Campbell’s services, holding 100% of the CrystalBall predictions. Campbell had unofficially visited East Lansing too many times to count and was considered a lock for the Spartans.

Campbell previously held offers from Michigan State, Ole Miss, Illinois, Creighton, Virginia Tech and Missouri, among others. He is the No. 61 prospect in the junior class according to the industry-generated 247Sports composite ranking.
