TJ Bickerstaff, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Sandy Creek (GA) High, took an unofficial visit to Memphis this past weekend (Oct. 14). He caught up with us at D1VISION to talk about his experience.

“I had a great time with coach Tubby [Smith] and coach [Joe] Esposito,” said Bickerstaff.  “They showed me their new facility that they’re building and it’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. They’ve also been recruiting me really hard and showing a lot of love. They showed me I can succeed in basketball and in the classroom at Memphis.”

Bickerstaff has also visited Middle Tennessee State, Central Florida, and South Florida. Bickerstaff talked to D1Vision about all of his visits thus far.

Middle Tennessee State: “It was good, we went to a football game. They showed me around campus. We watched some of their practice. I already know they are a good basketball school because they always end up going far in the tournament. The coaches are just great guys as well.”

Central Florida: “They had one of the nicest campuses I have seen so far. I like their basketball program and coach [Johnny] Dawkins. They also have nice facilities.”

South Florida: “It was nice and the campus is big. Their gym is really nice as well. The coaches will do well for them.”

Bickerstaff has an unofficial visit to Clemson on October 28th. He also told us that Butler and UConn are trying to set up visits in the near future.

Alabama will also be in this week for Bickerstaff. Ohio State, Xavier, Georgia Tech, and Georgia are expected to come into Sandy Creek High to watch him in the next couple of weeks.

Connor Vanover is currently the only commit in Memphis’ 2018 recruiting class.
