Texas Transfer Tevin Mack is Headed to Alabama

Texas sophomore wing Tevin Mack will transfer to Alabama for the coming season according to a report from Evan Daniels.

Mack is coming off a season where he averaged 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.5 steals per outing. Mack improved in every statistical category compared to his freshman season.

Mack spent the majority of January and all of February on the bench due to a suspension by Longhorn coach Shaka Smart.

“We have a set of standards that we expect people in our program to adhere to, and Tevin has failed to reach them,” head coach Shaka Smart said pertaining to Mack’s suspension.

Mack was publicly released from the program at the end of February.

Initially Mack committed to Coach Smart while he was at VCU. The Rams released him from his NLI after Smart left for Austin. Mack quickly followed, showing tremendous promise during the 2016-17 season prior to his suspension.

The South Carolina native will be a huge addition to an Alabama program who finished the 2017 recruiting year ranked number 5. The class includes McDonald’s All-American Collin Sexton, four-stars John Petty and Alex Reese along with Herb Jones and Galin Smith.

Mack is, in essence, the first member of the 2018 class for coach Avery Johnson and the Tide.
