Russell Barlow, the 6-foot-7 center from Lloyd V. Berkner (TX) High School, announced his commitment to Jamie Dixon and the TCU Horned Frogs on Thursday via Twitter.

“My decision was in large part due to Coach Dixon’s previous success in developing big men,” Barlow told D1Vision via text. “The fan base is super supportive.”

According to 247Sports, Barlow is ranked as the No. 213 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 20 player from the state of Texas. He joins Kendric Davis as the second commit in TCU’s 2018 class.

Playing with Texas Hardwork on the UAA Circuit, Barlow averaged 7.2 points and 6.0 rebounds in 13 games played. Texas Hardwork finished with a 2-10 record on the circuit. Under Armour released their season awards last month.

“I think [TCU’s] style of play is perfect for my type of game,” said Barlow. “There’s some stuff I need to learn but I’ll be ready to adjust.”

Barlow chose the Horned Frogs over schools such as LSU, Houston, Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Tulsa, among others.

“I’m just excited to be able to play at a home environment where my family can see me play.” said Barlow.
