Greg Williams, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Lafayette (LA) Christian Academy, announced his commitment and signing with St. John’s on Wednesday at a press conference. He took an official visit to St. John’s last month (Oct. 27).

“After a lot of contemplation, I have now decided to take my talents to the University of St. John’s,” Williams said during the press conference.”

According to 247Sports, Williams is ranked as the No. 141 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 4 player from the state of Louisiana. He joins Josh Roberts and Boubacar Diakite as the third commit in the Red Storm’s 2018 class. Roberts signed his National Letter of Intent with St. John’s during the Early Signing Period.

St. John’s will also bring in transfers Sedee Keita and Mikey Dixon, who will sit out the 2017-18 season before returning for 2018-19. Williams chose St. John’s over schools such as Nevada, Tulane, Auburn, Florida, Houston, Texas, West Virginia, and Wyoming, among others.

In addition to his St. John’s official, Williams took official visits to Tulane (Oct. 15) and Nevada (Oct. 20).

“They made me feel comfortable with everything going on,” said Williams. “I’ve seen them play and I know I can thrive in their system.”
