Berrick JeanLouis, the 6-foot-5 small forward from Lehigh (FL) Senior High School, announced his commitment to South Alabama on Thursday via Twitter. Louis took an official visit to South Alabama this past weekend (Sept. 16).

“I would first like to thank God for the talent he has blessed me with. I would also like to thank my family, friends, teachers, mentors, and coaches for believing and supporting me,” said JeanLouis in a statement released via Twitter. “I want to thank Nike Team Florida, Florida Elite, and Team Knight for giving me a great platform to showcase my abilities.”

According to 247Sports, JeanLouis is ranked as the No. 189 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 18 player from the state of Florida. He is the first commit in South Florida’s 2018 class and chose the Jaguars over schools such as Florida Gulf Coast, Murray State, North Florida, Stetson, and UAB, among others.

South Alabama is also in the running for 2018 Forward Kalu Ezikpe. Ezikpe spoke with D1VISION earlier this month about his recruitment.

JeanLouis, who also participates in the high jump at his high school, won a state championship in the high jump in May.
