Riley Battin, the 6-foot-9 power forward from Oak Park (CA) High School, spoke with D1VISION on Monday about his recent official visit to Davidson.

“I think I would fit very well in their system,” said Battin on Davidson. “Their offense runs through a versatile point forward which is where I see myself playing at the next level.”

Davidson already has two commits in the 2018 class with David Czerapowicz and Michael Jones. For 2017, Davidson brings in a four-man class of Kellan Grady, Carter Collins, Bates Jones, and Luke Frampton, giving them the top recruiting class in the Atlantic Ten Conference.

Battin, who is down to four schools, also has official visits planned to Utah (Sept. 15), Ohio State (Oct. 13), and Vanderbilt (Oct. 20). After cutting his list down to six schools last month, Battin broke down his list of schools.

Davidson: “I really like the coaching staff and their style of play.”

Ohio State: “I have a good relationship with the coaches from when they were at Butler. They are also a prestigious school in a great league.”

Vanderbilt: “I really like their coaching staff and they are a tough team in a great league.”

Utah: “I have a great relationship with the staff. They play in the Pac-12 and their style of play is similar to mine.”

When it comes to Davidson, there’s a lot that appeals to Battin, as he said Monday, “I have a great relationship with the staff and I really like their style of play.”

According to 247Sports, Battin is ranked as the No. 222 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 22 player from the state of California.

Playing with Earl Watson Elite on the Under Armour Circuit this summer, Battin averaged 12.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, in 17 games played.

Thanks for covering this. A few points, though:

Davidson is in the Atlantic 10, not the SoCon.
And we have four freshmen this year, not two. In addition to Kellan Grady and Luke Frampton, we are also bringing in PG Carter Collins from East Chapel Hill and PF Bates Jones from Charlotte Latin.
