Purdue Lands 2018 Four-Star Guard Eric Hunter

Eric Hunter Jr., the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Charles A. Tindley (IN) Accelerated School, announced his commitment to Purdue on Monday via Twitter. Hunter took an official visit to Purdue earlier this month (Sept. 8).

“First, I would like to thank the coaches that have recruited me over the years but I can only choose one,” said Hunter in a video released via Twitter. “All my life, I’ve wanted to be great. I will continue to be great at Purdue University. Boiler Up.”

According to 247Sports, Hunter is ranked as the No. 136 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 5 player from the state of Indiana. He joins Emmanuel Dowuona and Trevion Williams as the third commit in the Boilermakers 2018 class.

Before his commitment, Hunter took official visits to Purdue, Xavier (Sept. 15), and Ohio State (Sept. 20).  Butler, Minnesota, and Nebraska were also among Hunter’s top six schools.

2019 guard Keion Brooks told D1VISION last week that Purdue was among the schools working the hardest for his recruitment.

“I would like to thank my mother, father, coaches, trainers, and teammates for molding me into the young man I am today,” said Hunter. “Basketball is not just something I do for fun. This game is my life. Day in and day out, I spend time perfecting my craft.”

Hunter was originally supposed to trip to Minnesota this upcoming weekend (Sept. 30) for an official visit, but canceled the visit just prior to his commitment.
