Daniil Kasatkin, the 6-foot-7 point guard from Mountain Mission (VA) School, announced his commitment to Penn State on Sunday via Twitter. Kasatkin is originally from Ivanovo, Russia.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing high-major basketball, while getting first class education, and Penn State provided this opportunity for me!” Kasatkin told D1Vision on Monday.

Kasatkin visited Penn State over the weekend for his official visit, after receiving an offer Nittany Lion coach Pat Chambers last month. He joins Rasir Bolton, Myles Dread, and Tolu Jacobs Yaffa, as the fourth commit in Penn State’s 2018 class.

“People at Penn State are amazing,” said Kasatkin. “I’ve met lots of people, and everyone was kind and genuine to me! Also, I love the opportunities of being a great student. Penn State has all the tools to be successful academically. The coaching staff and players are so connected to each other. I felt a family atmosphere.”

Penn State was Kasatkin’s only offer.

“I believe I will fit great,” Kasatkin said of Penn State. “I’m tall and can shoot. Coach [Chambers] can use me at multiple positions and I will stretch the floor at any of them. I am 6-foot-7 so I will help on the boards also.”
