All in the Family: Patrick McCaffery Commits to Iowa

IOWA HAWKEYES MCCAFFERY

Patrick McCaffery, a 6-foot-7 wing out of Iowa City (IA) West High, announced Thursday that he has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes and will play for his father, Fran McCaffery. McCaffery’s decision should pay dividends for the Hawkeyes as soon as he steps on campus in the spring of 2019.

“It may come as a big surprise, but I have decided to commit to play for my father at the University of Iowa,” McCaffery said jokingly in a release via Twitter. “Go Hawks.”

McCaffery is ranked a composite four-star by 247, the 36th ranked recruit in the Class of 2019, and the top high school player in the state of Iowa. Despite his ranking, McCaffery received no other offers, a sign that he could be a lock to the Big Ten school.

McCaffery’s older brother Connor committed to Iowa back in 2014 and is a freshman on the current Hawkeyes roster.
