Oregon Lands 2018 Five-Star Forward Louis King

Louis King, the 6-foot-8 small forward from Hudson Catholic (NJ) High School, committed to Oregon on Thursday in a video released via Twitter. King took his first and only official visit to Oregon earlier this month (Sept. 9).

“I’ve been blessed with great opportunities. Five of them remain for me,” said King in the video. “I would like to thank each of them for all the time and effort they put into my recruitment. I would like to thank my coaches and my teammates that have pushed me and helped get me to this point in my career, my friends for all their love and support, but most of all, I’d like to thank my family, who has been by my side through it all. Today, I’m blessed to announce my decision. I would like to announce that I’ve committed to the University of Oregon. Go Ducks!”

According to 247Sports, King is ranked as the No. 18 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of New Jersey. He joins Miles Norris, as the second commit in the Ducks 2018 class. King’s high school teammate at Hudson Catholic and five-star point guard Jahvon Quinerly committed to Arizona last month.

King chose Oregon over his final five of Kansas, NC State, Purdue and Seton Hall. King was also originally considering Maryland, UConn, and Syracuse in his final eight.

Oregon is also involved for 2018 guard and No. 1 player R.J. Barrett of Montverde (FL) Academy, who takes his official to Oregon this weekend (Sept. 23).

King was one of several high school players selected this summer to the U.S. U19 team that won a bronze medal under Kentucky coach John Calipari at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. He averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in seven games.
