Ryan Young, the 6-foot-10 power forward from Bethlehem Catholic (PA) High School, committed to Northwestern on Wednesday via Twitter, following an unofficial visit on Sunday.

“After a long an exciting summer, my AAU season has come to a close,” said Young in a statement released via Twitter. “With that being said I’m proud to announce my commitment to coach Chris Collins and Northwestern University.

After landing Pete Nance in June, Northwestern’s 2018 class now consists of Young, Nance and Jordan Lathon. Young chose Northwestern over schools such as Maryland, Temple, Boston University, Pennsylvania, St. Joseph’s, Lehigh, Drexel, William & Mary, Elon, La Salle, Duquesne, Lafayette, Richmond, Colgate, Yale, Navy, Bucknell, and George Washington, among others.

“My sincerest appreciation goes out to all the schools that invested time in me throughout the process,” said Young. “Huge thanks to all my teammates, coaches, and trainers, throughout every level that helped me get to this point. Lastly, thanks to my family and friends for the continued support.”

Young’s commitment comes just one day after receiving an offer from Maryland. Northwestern offered Young earlier this month (Aug. 4).
