New Mexico State Lands 2017 Jabari Rice

Jabari Rice Commits

Jabari Rice, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Fort Bend Marshall (TX) High School, announced his commitment to New Mexico State on Monday via Twitter.

“It just came down to the way they were so eager to get me apart of their program,” Rice told D1Vision via text. “They play my style of play. They go at a fast pace and are a defense heavy team. That’s what I love to do; lock up on defense and go get a bucket on offense.”

Rice joins Robert Simmons as the second commit in the Aggies 2017 class.

“I’m most excited about playing with teammate Robert and just getting better every day and winning games with my new family,” said Rice.

Playing with the Houston Defenders on the Under Armour Circuit this summer, Rice has averaged 11.2 points and 3.4 rebounds through 14 games. He led the Defenders to a 5-7 record. Morris Udeze, Rice’s teammate with the Defenders spoke with D1Vision last month.
