Nebraska Lands 2018 Guard Xavier Johnson

Xavier Johnson, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Bishop O’Connell (VA) High School, announced his commitment to Nebraska on Monday via Twitter. Johnson took an official visit to Nebraska earlier this month (Sept. 15)

“I’d like to thank my coaches and teammates who have helped me get to the next level,” said Johnson in a video released via Twitter. “Also my friends, for their support and last but not least, my family, who have helped mold me into the person I am today and have always been there supporting me every step of the way. So after long consideration, I would like to announce that I’m committed to Nebraska. Go Big Red!”

According to 247Sports, Johnson is ranked as the No. 240 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 7 player from Virginia. He joins Brady Heiman as the second commit in the Cornhuskers 2018 class.

“Basketball has always been a major part of my life. It’s my passion. It is and has always been everything to me,” said Johnson. “I’ve grown up with the game and as I grew, I gained respect for the game, through hard work and dedication. I have been blessed with opportunities to continue my basketball career.”

After naming his final three schools earlier this month, Johnson chose Nebraska over Georgetown and Georgia Tech. Nebraska was his first and only official visit.

Nebraska recently landed in the final three of 2018 power forward Nate Roberts, who is also considering Syracuse and Washington. Roberts will make his college decision on October 17.
