2017 five-star freshman Mitchell Robinson officially enrolled and is back on Western Kentucky’s campus.

“We just felt like it was the best place for him and that he could go and play,” Robinson’s high school coach Butch Stockton told Scout.

Robinson, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 overall player in the Class of 2017, is considered the highest rated recruit in the school’s history. He participated in both the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic earlier this year.

Robinson visited LSU, Kansas and most recently New Orleans, ultimately returning to Western Kentucky for what should be his only season in college.

Most believed Robinson would need a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately. Reports surfaced that he had options to potentially play overseas or he could skip playing altogether and spend the next ten months preparing for the 2018 NBA draft.

Mitchell’s return means WKU finishes with the number seven recruiting class in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Class Rankings, and maybe most importantly, the entire country gets to see one of the top freshmen on the court for at least one season.
