Mitchell Twins Kelly Kline/Under Armour

Makhi Mitchell and Makhel Mitchell, twin brothers from Bishop McNamara (MD) High School, both committed to Maryland on Friday per FanRag Sports.

“We both liked the fact that Coach Turgeon only offered us in the class of 2019,” Makhi told ZagsBlog. “Also, it’s been a dream for us going to Maryland since we’ve been watching them since 6th grade.”

Both standing at 6-foot-9, the twins are the first two commits in the Terps’ 2019 class. According to 247Sports, Makhi is ranked as the No. 38 overall player in the Class of 2018, while Makhel stands at No. 101.

Landing the twins gets Maryland off to a good start in 2019, as their 2018 class currently has two commits with Aaron Wiggins and Jalen Smith. Their 2018 class is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 class nationally.

Playing with the DC Blue Devils on the Under Armour Circuit, Makhi averaged 9.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game in 17 games played. Makhel averaged 6.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game in 16 games played.

The twins chose Maryland over schools such as Georgetown, Georgia, Memphis, NC State, George Washington, and Rutgers.
