Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon added a critical piece to his 2018 class on Saturday with the commitment of wing Aaron Wiggins.

“After transferring to Wesleyan Christian Academy (NC) last year, and having the opportunity to play two AAU seasons with Team Charlotte, I have been blessed with the option to choose between many great Division 1 colleges,” Wiggins said via his Twitter account. “After giving it much thought, and speaking with my family, coaches, and those closest to me, I have decided to commit to the University of Maryland!”

The four-star Wiggins announced his decision while on an official visit to College Park with his parents. Wiggins chose Maryland over Florida, Kansas and Southern California among others.

Wiggins has been solid on the Under Armour Grassroots circuit this Spring. The 6-foot-6, 180 lb wing is averaging 15.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 block in 21.0 minutes per outing over the 10 games period.

He is currently ranked as the 62nd best overall prospect on the 247Sports 2018 Composite Player rankings. 247Sports Jerry Meyer has him ranked number 43 overall, a 40 spot jump from the previous rankings.

Wiggins is the first 2018 commit for Mark Turgeon and the Terps.
