Makai Ashton-Langford Commits to Providence

What was UConn’s loss has now become Providence’s gain. Brewster Academy (NH) four-star senior point guard Makai Ashton-Langford has committed to the Friars, per a report from Evan Daniels. Ashton-Langford officially visited Providence this previous weekend.

“He had much interest from across the country but his relationship with Ed Cooley and the opportunity to impact a Big East program right away too much for Makai to pass on,” Rivals coach Pastore told Daniels.

Ashton-Langford is ranked as the 38th overall player in the 247Sports 2017 Composite Player Rankings and is the 8th ranked point guard.

During the 2016 adidas Gauntlet, Ashton-Langford averaged 15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 22.5 minutes per starting all 13 games for Mass Rivals.

Ashton-Langford is the third commit in Ed Cooley’s 2017 Providence class, joining four-star center Nate Watson and three-star center Dajour Dickens. With the addition of Ashton-Langford, the Friars jump up to the number 14 ranked class.
