Tremont Waters — a four-star point guard out of New Haven (CT) Notre Dame High — has committed and signed with LSU. Waters was the last remaining Top 100 member of the 2017 class.

Waters — who had initially signed with Georgetown prior to the release of John Thompson III — took an official visit to Baton Rouge last week. A visit that obviously sealed his recruitment.”

“Multiple reasons,” Ed Waters told Scout when asked why his son chose LSU. “Lengthy conversations with the coach and looking into the SEC we have network where our wife and I can catch every game if we want to on our network.”

“Having a good contract was important and understanding a coach like Will Wade coming in has to prove himself, just like Tremont does,” he added. “I like the fact that he’s hungry and has something to prove. The conversations have been amazing.”

“Tremont’s development is important,” Waters continued. “Some of these kids can go anywhere and can go one and done. But some of these kids are like Steph Curry and Davidson, where they need to go somewhere and develop.”

Will Wade adds an important potentially long-term piece to a class consisting of four-star Brandon Rachal and three-star recruits Galen Alexander and Mayan Kiir. The signing of Waters moves LSU into the number 16 position on the 247Sports 2017 Composite Class Rankings.

“Tremont Waters is a dynamic point guard who will help our program immediately,” said LSU Coach Will Wade in a release by the school. “His ability to pass and score, along with his defensive tenacity, will help us tremendously as we move ahead toward the 2017-18 campaign.”

247Sports has Waters ranked number 41 nationally, number 10 at his position and the number 2 recruit out of Connecticut.
