Kavell Bigby-Williams, the 6-foot-11 center from the University of Oregon, will transfer to LSU per Corey Evans. Bigby-Williams will have to sit out the 2017-18 season before joining the Tigers’ roster.

“Just the relationship my people and I had with the coaching staff, and I feel it’s a place I can get better at and get to my goal which is to play at the next level,” Bigby-Williams told Scout.

Bigby-Williams took an official visit to LSU this past weekend (June 17-19). He also took visits to Baylor, San Diego State, and Wichita State. Last season, Bigby-Williams averaged 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor in 9.8 minutes per game.

Before joining the Oregon Ducks, Bigby-Williams was the national junior college Player of the Year after he averaged 16.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 blocks per game for Gillette (WY) College.

Bigby-Williams’ commitment comes one day after LSU center Elbert Robinson announced his intentions to step away from the team due to medical reasons. Robinson’s departure opened up a scholarship for the Tigers to sign Bigby-Williams.

New LSU head coach Will Wade has been strong on the recruiting trail, giving LSU the No. 16 ranked recruiting class in 2017, and landing star point guard Tremont Waters.
