LSU Lands Four-Star Power Forward Naz Reid

Naz Reid, the 6-foot-9 power forward from Roselle Catholic (NJ) High School, announced his commitment to LSU on Tuesday in a video released to Twitter.

“The place where my journey began; where I worked hard to stand out; where I put in the work that others didn’t; to do the things people said I couldn’t,” said Reid in the video. “The place where I grew from a boy to a man. Now as my journey continues, I want to thank my family, all those that supported me, and the coaches who recruited me. And I will be announcing that my new home will be at LSU.”

According to 247Sports, Reid is ranked as the No. 15 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of New Jersey. He chose LSU over Arizona, after cutting his list to two last month. Reid will join Javonte Smart as the second commit in the Tigers’ 2018 class.

Reid’s commitment comes as no surprise, after he canceled his official visit to Arizona, that was originally planned for last weekend (Sept. 8).  He took an official visit to LSU in the summer (June 30) and an unofficial last month (Aug. 26). He also received a home-visit from LSU head coach Will Wade on Monday.

While playing with Sports U on the Under Armour Grassroots Circuit this past summer, Reid averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.4 steals and 1.2 assists over the 14-game summer schedule.
