LSU has reportedly hired current VCU head coach Will Wade to fill the void of former head man Johnny Jones, who led the Tigers for five seasons before his dismissal.

Wade was 51-20 during his tenure as the head man at VCU, leading the Rams to the NCAA Tournament both seasons and advancing to the Round of 32 during the 2015-16 year.

The dismissal of Jones came after the Tigers finished the 2016-17 season at a dismal 10-21, dropping 17 of their last 18 and ending with a 2-16 record in the SEC. LSU could only muster a 19-14 record during the 2014-15 campaign, a season where the 2015 NBA number one pick Ben Simmons was on the roster.

LSU is scheduled to return 65% of this seasons scoring with Antonio Blakeney, Duop Reath, Brandon Sampson and Skylar Mays accounting for 49.1 of the Tigers 75 points per game. The Tigers should add two four-star recruits to the 2017-18 roster in wing Galen Alexander and guard Brandon Rachal.

Wade will reportedly sign a six-year contract with the Tigers.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman first reported the news.
