2018 Four-Star Landers Nolley Commits to Virginia Tech

Landers Nolley

Landers Nolley, the 6-foot-7 wing out of Langston Hughes (GA) High, announced via his Twitter account that he has committed to Virginia Tech.

“First off I would like to thank God for everything,” Nolley stated. “In this process I made a few mistakes that could have cost me everything, but I’m thankful to have parents who care about me to put me in the best situation possible. In this process I have learned a lot and I thank everyone who helped or contributed to my success.”

“I am very grateful to be in this position in my life,” Nolley continued. “I enjoyed the whole process, but I think it is time. Making this decision will help me grow not only into a better ball player, but a better man. With all of that being said, I am committing to the University of Virginia Tech.”

Nolley told D1VISION on the switch from Georgia to Virginia Tech. “It is just a better fit for me to grow up and get better on the court at the same.”

Nolley started the breakdown of his recruitment process publicly through his Basketball Society bracket in August. He began the bracket with thirty-two teams with single elimination March Madness style. The creative move garnered attention on social media with college basketball fans crossing their fingers that their schools makes it to the next round.

Nolley announced his final two schools of Georgia and Virginia Tech via Twitter on October 6th. He is coming off a de-commitment from Georgia. Nolley committed to Georgia on October 7th, only to withdraw that commitment the very next day and reopen his recruitment.

Last season at Langston Hughes High, Nolley averaged 24.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.9 steals. According to 247Sports, Nolley is ranked as the No. 96 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 4 player from the state of Georgia.

He joins 6-foot-3 three-star shooting guard Jarren McAllister from Heritage (NC) High for Virginia Tech’s 2018 recruiting class.
