Kennedy Meeks Enjoying EYBL, Preparing for Lakers Workout

North Carolina big man Kennedy Meeks was in Los Angeles on Saturday where he attended the Nike EYBL event. Meeks is scheduled to workout for the Lakers on Monday.

Meeks recently attended the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

“It’s definitely fun,” Meeks said. “It’s been a great experience for me. We have a couple workouts to go but it will definitely help me in the long run.”

Asked about what he has been hearing from teams.

“It’s an even playing field in my eyes,” Meeks stated. “If you put the work in, then everything will fall in place. So, I think I’ll be fine. I’m ready.”

Meeks measured out at 6’8.75″ without shoots while weighing in at 276.6 lbs, most of any player at the combine.

Meeks mentioned that he still had a “a whole lot” of workouts remaining on his schedule, but wouldn’t specify who.

“It’s good,” Meeks said of the draft process. “Like I said, I have a couple workouts to go. I’m definitely ready for that. It’s always hard traveling but other than that it’s fun.”

Meeks was a key member of this years National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels. The big man in the middle averaged 12.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.5 steals in 26 minutes per game during the NCAA Tournament.

“It was a good one coming off of a lost last year,” Meeks said about this years run. “Bouncing back, executing and being a better team was definitely something we were focusing on.”

Meeks is not projected to be selected in the top 60 picks on the latest DraftExpress Mock Draft.
