Keldon Johnson, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, confirmed to Rivals on Wednesday that he is down to a final five of Maryland, Texas, Kentucky, NC State, and Florida State.

“I narrowed it down to five schools so I am coming down the home stretch,” he said. “Maryland, Texas, Kentucky, NC State and Florida State are all involved.” Johnson broke down each school for Rivals on Wednesday:

Florida State: “They are just telling me that they can get me to the league and that I can be their main guy right away. If my schedule allows for it, I do want to visit Florida State.”

NC State: “They think that I can come in right away and help their program drastically but also put a lot of pieces around me.”

Texas: “I have a great relationship with coach [ShakaSmart and coach [MikeMorrell, which goes a long way. They think I can come in and have the chance to start right away; they can help me get to where I want to go.”

Kentucky: “They are very honest and very straightforward. They are telling me what I have to do to get better and to get to the next level. They are just telling me to keep working and to just do what I do; to play to my strengths and work on my weaknesses.”

Maryland: “Great program and great history. They have awesome coaches and awesome players. The visit was amazing. It was definitely something that stood out to me especially being there with a few of their other guys.”

According to 247Sports, Johnson is ranked as the No. 14 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 shooting guard in the Class. He has taken official visits to Texas (Sept. 1), NC State (Sept. 8), Kentucky (Sept. 15), and Maryland  (Sept. 29).

Johnson has not made a decision on whether or not he will take his final official visit to Florida State, as the end of his recruitment may be approaching. “It is just coming down the home stretch with my recruitment,” said Johnson. “I would say I do want to sign early as of now. After me and my father talk in the next few days, hopefully, we can get something done.”

Through 12 predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, 50 percent of experts expect Johnson to choose Kentucky, while 33 percent predicted Texas, and the final 17 percent predicted Maryland. Immanuel Quickley is currently the only commit in Kentucky’s 2018 class as they prepare to host Big Blue Madness this weekend.
