2019 Keion Brooks Says Four Working Hardest

Keion Brooks Four Schools Scout

Keion Brooks, the 6-foot-8 small forward from North Side (IN) High School, says Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue and UCLA are the four schools working hardest for his recruitment. The 2019 forward broke down each school for D1VISION:

Michigan State: “The thing I like most about them is that they’re really a family. They have a family environment and are very family oriented. That’s how I am. I’m a family guy so that’s what appeals the most to me.”

Indiana: “It’s in-state and close to home. Growing up in Indiana, just about every kid wants to play for IU. That’s always been a dream of mine.”

Purdue: “They were the first to offer so that meant a lot for them to be the first one to shoot the gun on me. They’ve been going hard ever since they offered me.”

UCLA: “It’s in LA. They produce a lot of NBA players. I like the way the program is going with Alford and I like how they get out in transition and play a fast pace game which helps me with my athleticism.”

UCLA, Kentucky, Michigan State, DePaul, Iowa, Ohio State, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Tulsa, Indiana, Notre Dame, Memphis, Purdue, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, and Louisville were among the schools to reach out to Brooks since Thursday.

Brooks says he doesn’t have an idea yet of when he wants to make his college decision but it is clear that he knows what he’s looking for in a school.

“I’m looking for a place where I can get the best education and be able to play immediately but at the same time, I don’t want it handed to me,” said Brooks. “I want to go in and work for what I got. Also, I want to be able to enjoy the campus. I want to enjoy being a student on the campus. I don’t want to be somewhere, where I’m just looking forward to basketball all day long. I want to enjoy myself and have fun on that campus.”

Brooks doesn’t have any upcoming visits planned. Schools that have been showing interest but haven’t offered Brooks yet have been Florida, Tulsa, Wisconsin, Virginia, Louisville, and DePaul.
