Devon Dotson, the 6-foot-2 point guard from Providence Day (NC) School and Team Charlotte (NC), committed to Kansas on Friday. He took his second official visit to Kansas earlier this year (Aug. 25) with 2018 big man Silvio De Souza, who committed to Kansas just days after the visit.

Dotson averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game this summer on the AAU circuit playing for former NBA guard Jeff McInnis

“I think he’s one of the most explosive guys getting to the basket,” McInnis told ZagsBlog on Friday by phone. “He gets to the basket at will. He has an improved jump shot. He’s a dog, he’s tough on the court, he don’t back down. He plays defense the same way he plays offense. That’s what I always liked about him.

According to 247Sports, Dotson is ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of North Carolina. He joins Souza and David McCormack as the third commit in Kansas’ 2018 class, giving the Jayhawks the No. 3 class in 2018.

Dotson also played AAU with SC Supreme on the adidas Summer Championship, alongside 2018 top-three recruit and Kansas target Zion Williamson, who took an official visit to Kansas for “Late Night in the Phog” last month (Sept. 30). Williamson will be visiting Kentucky this weekend for “Big Blue Madness”.
