2018 Justin Ahrens Cuts to Three, Schedules Officials

Justin Ahrens, the 6-foot-5 wing from Versailles (OH) High School, cut his list to a final three consisting of Michigan, Ohio State, and Xavier. Ahrens dropped Dayton, Vanderbilt and Purdue from his previous list of six.

After initially committing to the Ohio State early in his high school career, Ahrens decided to reopen his recruitment following the coaching change in Columbus.

All three schools will receive an official visit. Ahrens will visit Michigan starting September 8, Ohio State September 22 and Xavier the weekend beginning September 29.

Ahrens recently talked with D1Vision about his three finalists.

Michigan: “Michigan loves shooters. They win and produce pros.”

Ohio State: “I like a lot about OSU. The coaches are awesome and I could play a lot as a freshman.”

Xavier: “They also love shooters, and they are losing their two leading scorers. They think I could come in and score the ball a lot for them.”

Despite not having a timetable for his commitment, Ahrens has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a school. “It needs to feel like home,” said Ahrens. “I need to have a good relationship with the coaches, and I have to fit with the team and their style of play.”

Playing with C2K Elite on the Under Armour Circuit, Ahrens averaged 13.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 13 games.
