2018 Forward J’Raan Brooks Cuts List to Five

J'Raan Brooks Final

J’Raan Brooks, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Garfield (WA) High School, announced a final five of USC, Virginia, Oklahoma, Stanford, and California Thursday via Twitter.

“I like it,” Brooks told 247Sports about Virginia earlier this week. “I like the coaching staff, I like Coach [Tony] Bennett a lot. I’m definitely going to take an official [visit] here in September.”

Brooks received a scholarship offer from Virginia last month (May 6). He has already set up official visits to USC (Sept. 2) and Stanford (Sept. 30). He took an unofficial visit to Stanford last year (Oct. 22). Stanford seems to be a likely contender for Brooks as they landed his teammate last season at Garfield, Daejon Davis.

“They definitely want me to come out here and take an official and keep them in mind,” said Brooks on UVA. “Coach Bennett really likes my game and has shown me some things that I need to improve on.”

Brooks is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 87 player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 3 player from the state of Washington. The University of Washington was also active in Brooks’ recruitment but didn’t make the cut. They were the first school to offer him after extending an offer in August of 2015.

Playing for Dream Vision on the adidas Gauntlet, Brooks has averaged 15.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in eight games, leading them to a 5-3 record.
