2019 Guard Josh Green Already Receiving High-Major Interest

Josh Green High Major Interest

Josh Green, the 2019 shooting guard from Phoenix (AZ) Hillcrest Prep, already holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, and TCU, while receiving interest from Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, UCLA, and Oregon among others.

“Everybody has called. Literally, when I say everybody, I mean everybody,” said Hillcrest coach Kyle Weaver. “We’re getting calls from every high major. When it’s all said and done I think he’ll have his pick of where he wants to go.”

Green averaged 20.1 points per game this year for Hillcrest Prep, playing alongside McDonald’s All-American Deandre Ayton. Weaver said Friday that he believes “Ayton Could Have An Instant Impact at Arizona” next year. “Josh is very, very athletic, probably one of the best athletes I’ve ever been around.”

“He’s one of the best defenders that I’ve ever seen in my life. He’s a ball hawk,” said Weaver. “He had over 111 steals in 35 games, and he takes pride in defense, which is rare at his age.”

Green, who moved from Australia to the United States in the eighth grade, is ranked by 247Sports as the #1 player in the state of Arizona and #33 overall player in the Class of 2019. He is planning to play on the Under Armour circuit with Earl Watson Elite.

“He’s also a very good scorer and averaged over 20.1 a game for us. I imagine next year, he’ll average over 25-26 a game, maybe even more for us,” said Weaver.  “He’s unstoppable in the open court. When he gets the ball with a full head of steam, you can’t stop him. He’s too athletic, too fast, too long.”

Green’s shooting has also been one of his best attributes,

“He’s a prototypical two, pro guard,” said Weaver. “He’s a very capable scorer and a very good three-point shooter also.”
