Jemarl Baker Has Committed to John Calipari and Kentucky

Jemarl Baker — a 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Roosevelt High School in California — has committed to John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats, per Adam Zagoria.

Baker was a previous California commit but requested and was released from his National Letter of Intent after Cuonzo Martin resigned from the head coaching position, accepting the Missouri job a few days later.

Kentucky has been actively pursuing an additional member of their backcourt for next season, also extending an offer to Edwardsville High (IL) rising four-star point guard Mark Smith. Rumors have circulated recently that Smith is a heavy Michigan State lean.

Kentucky will lose Malik Monk, De’Aaron Fox and Isaiah Briscoe to the draft as well as Dominique Hawkins and Mychal Mulder to graduation.

Kentucky has five-star shooting guard Hamidou Diallo currently enrolled and available for next season along with incoming freshmen five-star point guard Quade Green and four-star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

With the addition of Baker, Kentucky now has seven members in their loaded class, a class that has a secure lock on their overall number one 2017 Class Rankings.
