Jayson Tatum, the 6-foot-8 freshman from Duke University, declared for the NBA Draft on Wednesday according to the Duke Basketball Twitter account.

Tatum was instrumental in Duke’s historic four-game run to the ACC Tournament Title, averaging 22.0 points (31/56 for 55.3%), 7.5 rebounds, 2.25 assists and 1.5 steals per outing as Duke defeated Clemson, No. 10 Louisville, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 22 Notre Dame to be the first ever ACC school to win the Tourney with four straight wins.

“It’s extremely exciting,” Tatum told Scout’s Evan Daniels. “It’s just another step closer to a lifelong dream that I’ve always had and it’s the next step and I’m happy to be taking it.”

“I think it was a great season,” Tatum said. “It started off a little rough, being injured and being a freshman and things like that, but towards the middle and end of the season I think I really grew as a player.”

According to DraftExpress, Tatum is projected to be the #4 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He finished his one season at Duke averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks in 33.3 minutes of play.
