2018 Javian Fleming Cuts List to Nine Schools

Javian Fleming Final

Javian Fleming, the 6-foot-9 center from Canton (MS) High School, named Alabama, Iowa State, TCU, Texas A&M, Georgetown, Ole Miss, Florida Gulf Coast, Clemson, and Tennessee as his final nine schools via Twitter. He broke down each school for D1Vision:

Alabama: “I chose them because of the way Coach Avery Johnson and the staff are turning the program around. They’ve improved every year.”

Iowa State: “I like how they let their players just play, but play the right way. Plus, they’re one of the top teams in the country every year.”

TCU: “I like the way they feed and play through the post.”

Texas A&M: “I like their big play. They’re a school that has a great low post scorer and they give him the ball, so I like that.”

Georgetown: “Georgetown has a new coaching staff. Patrick Ewing talked to me 2-3 times and I like what he has to say. Learning and being coached from one of the best bigs in the world would be big. The assistant coach [Robert] Kirby recruited me when he was with LSU so we have a good relationship.”

Ole Miss: “The only in-state school that really recruited me hard and that I liked. I like the way their bigs improve every year.”

FGCU: “I love how the team plays hard and together.”

Clemson: “They’re also a team that plays hard and together. It also helps that they’re in the ACC.”

Tennessee: “I like the way Tennessee feeds the post and the way they play aggressively.”

Fleming says he would like to cut his list down again before making his decision but doesn’t have a timetable yet for when he will commit.

2018 Miller Kopp, who named his final six schools on Friday also has Texas A&M on his list.
