Big Man Javarzia Belton will Re-Classify to 2020

Javarzia Belton, a 6-foot-10 center from Westridge (NC) Academy, confirmed to D1Vision that he will re-classify from 2019 to the Class of 2020.

Belton is an athletic under the radar recruit. Jamie Shaw of Phenom Hoop Report said “college coaches will be burning up this pathway” after seeing Belton play last year at Calhoun Falls (SC) Charter School.

“He has great hands, they are big and very passer friendly,” Shaw added about Belton. “He seemingly caught everything, both in traffic and on the boards. Which leads to the second thing that stood out, his motor on the boards. He went after every rebound, catching the ball at its peak with two hands, he had great timing.”

Belton played his high school basketball last season at Calhoun Falls (SC) Charter School. He announced via Twitter that he would finish his high school basketball career at Westridge (NC) Academy.

Shaw continued, “Timing is what leads us into a third thing that really impressed us about Belton, he had very natural timing on the defensive end. He blocks a ton of shots, alters numerous more, and does a great job in the passing lanes. Possibly the most impressive part of this young man’s game is his ability to run the floor.”

Belton told D1Vision that “recruiting is going great.” UNLV, College of Charleston and South Carolina State extended offers to Belton. Middle Tennessee State, Wake Forest, and Yale have also reached out.

Belton averaged 21.1 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 4.9 blocks a game last season at Calhoun Falls Charter School.
