Talen Horton-Tucker, the 6-foot-5 small forward from Simeon (IL) Career Academy, announced his commitment to Iowa State on Thursday via Twitter. He took an official visit to Iowa State earlier this month (Oct. 13).

“I’ve had a relationship with them for the longest out of the three schools that I’ve had now,” Horton-Tucker told D1Vision on Monday. When they first started talking to me, it was early in my freshman year. Just having a relationship with them has been great.”

According to 247Sports, Horton-Tucker is ranked as the No. 109 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 4 player from the state of Illinois. He joins Zion Griffin, Tyrese Haliburton, and George Conditt as the fourth commit in the Cyclones’ 2018 class.

After committing to Iowa State earlier this month, George Conditt spoke with D1VISION about the possibility of joining forces with Horton-Tucker. “It would be great to have Talen Horton-Tucker with us,” said Conditt. “If he commits to Iowa State it would help us a lot. He’s a great player and a great friend of mine, so I’m going to respect his decision, just like everyone respected mine.”

Horton-Tucker, who named his final three last week, chose Iowa State over Xavier and Illinois, taking his Xavier official on September 22 and Illinois on October 20. He also visited Georgia Tech but they were not included in his final three.

“It was good, just being around those guys at Iowa State, who I’d be there with is just great,” said Horton-Tucker on his Iowa State visit. “It’s nice to see who I have to be around when I go there.”

Horton-Tucker also confirmed to D1Vision on Monday that he will be signing during the early-signing period in November.
