Jerome Hunter, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Pickering (OH) High School North, announced his commitment to Archie Miller and the Indiana on Monday via Twitter. Zach Fleer of 270 Hoops was the first to report the news.  He is the second commit for the Hoosiers in as many days after landing Race Thompson on Sunday.

“I truly appreciate all the schools that have recruited me, the relationships with the coaching staffs and everyone who has supported me to this point,” said Hunter in a statement released via Twitter. “After long consideration and talks with my family, I’ve decided to commit to Indiana University. #Go Hoosiers.”

Hunter chose Indiana over Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Xavier after cutting his list earlier this summer (June 26). He received an offer from the Hoosiers while on an unofficial visit last month (June 24). Following Thompson’s reclassification, Hunter is the first commit in Indiana’s 2018 class.

“It was a number of factors but one has to be Jerome’s relationship with Archie [Miller] dating back to Dayton,” Hunter’s trainer, Andreas James told Rivals. “They were one of the first schools to offer Jerome and they kind of hit it off from there.”

Hunter, who does not play for a team on a major shoe circuit, has been playing with the Ohio NOVA travel program this summer. He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 60 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of Ohio.
