Mason Forbes, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Folsom (CA) High School, announced his commitment to Harvard on Tuesday via Twitter. Forbes took an official visit to Harvard last month.

“I’m excited to say that I committed to Harvard University and their process,” said Forbes via Twitter. “Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way! #GoCrimson.”

Forbes chose Harvard over schools such as Nevada, San Diego State, and St. Mary’s, among others. He also received interest from schools such as Princeton and Stanford, among others. Forbes joins Spencer Freedman, Noah Kirkwood, and Kale Catchings as the fourth commit in the Crimson’s 2018 class.

In addition to his Harvard official visit, Forbes also took official visits to Princeton, San Diego State, and Saint Mary’s. Forbes’ commitment helps the Crimson keep up with Ivy League rival Yale, who landed 2018 guard Matthue Cotton on Monday.

Playing with the Oakland Soldiers on the Nike EYBL this summer, Forbes averaged 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game, in 14 regular season games. During Peach Jam, he averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game, in five games, helping lead his team to a Peach Jam title.
