Georgetown Lands 2017 Forward Jamarko Pickett

Jamarko Pickett, the 6-foot-9 small forward Massanutten (VA) Military Academy, verbally committed to Georgetown on Friday, per Scout.

“He picked them because he felt like he could go in there and contribute immediately,” Chad Myers, the coach at Massanutten Military Academy, told Scout. “Playing time along with location was the determining the factor for him.”

Pickett, a former Ole Miss signee, decommitted from the Rebels earlier this month (July 13). Originally from the D.C. area, Pickett took an official visit to Georgetown last Wednesday and followed that up with a visit to Maryland.

According to 247Sports, Pickett is ranked as the No. 78 overall player in the Class of 2017 and the No. 4 player from the state of Virginia. He joins Antwan Walker, Jahvon Blair, and Chris Sodom as the fourth commit in Georgetown’s 2017 class.

Pickett is the first commit for new coach Patrick Ewing, since his hiring in April.
