Andrew Nembhard, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Montverde (FL) Academy, committed to the Florida Gators on Monday. Nembhard officially visited Florida the weekend prior to his commitment.

Nembhard reclassified into the 2018 class back in late July. “My recruitment increased after the first period of July,” Nembhard told D1Vision. ” College coaches are contacting my dad more often.”

“First, I would like to show my appreciation to all the schools that took the time to recruit me,” Nembhard said in a release via Twitter. “I’d like to thank Coach Boyle, Coach Gus, Coach Gad, Coach Marvin, Coach Nate and all the people who took their time in developing me into becoming the player I am today.”

“I’d also like to give thanks to my parents, brother and the rest of my family for pushing me everyday, supporting me, and sacrificing a lot to get me to where I am today,” Nembhard continued. “Finally, I am grateful and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Florida! #GoGators.”

Nembhard talked with D1Vision about why he chose Florida.

“I chose Florida because of my great relationship with the coaching staff that I built over the last year, and they have a great system and situation for me to come and contribute.,” Nembhard said. “I think I fit in nicely with what they want to do moving forward and I like to play fast and so do they so its a good match”

Nembhard chose Florida over UConn, Maryland, Stanford, Gonzaga, Seton Hall, Ohio St, Virginia and USC. He is the first commit for Head Coach Mike White from the 2018 class. Nembhard is rated as the No. 28 overall player and the No. 7 point guard in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
