2018 Four-Star Filip Petrusev Commits to Gonzaga

Filip Petrusev

Filip Petrusev, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Montverde (FL) Academy has announced his commitment to Gonzaga via Twitter.

“They are a big-time basketball school with great tradition, especially with international big men. They develop players very well and make the NCAA tournament every year.” Petrusev told ESPN on his commitment to Gonzaga

Petrusev took his official visit to Gonzaga on October 12th. He also took visits to Tennessee (Sept. 29th), Vanderbilit (Oct. 1st), Utah (Oct. 14th, and Florida (Oct. 17th). Petrusev is the first commit for the Zags in the Class of 2018.

Petrusev told ESPN that sending guys like Ronny Turiaf (France), Domantas Sabonis (Lithuania), Kelly Olynyk (Canada), Robert Sacre (Canada) and Elias Harris (Germany) to the NBA had a big part in committing to Gonzaga.

“It’s one of the reasons I like Gonzaga so much. It is a privilege, and also gives me motivation to follow their steps and maybe end up like them one day. I see myself fitting perfectly in their system. It reminds me a lot of Europe, always with two big guys, allowing them to play both inside and outside, which will allow me to reach my full potential.”

According to 247Sports Petrusev is the No. 126 overall player for the Class of 2018 and the No. 12 player in the state of Florida.

While helping lead Serbia to a U18 European Championship, Petrusev averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2.6 steal, 1.7 blocks per 40 minutes.
