Feron Hunt, the 6-foot-7 small forward from DeSoto (TX) High School, announced his commitment and signing with SMU on Thursday at his high school gym. Reece Kelley provided a live periscope of the decision.

“I just felt more comfortable around [the SMU coaches],” Hunt told Sports Day HS on Thursday. “My mom felt comfortable with the staff and they made me a priority. They had a plan for me and I felt like I was going into a good situation.

Hunt, who de-committed from TCU last month (Oct. 20), narrowed his list to SMU and Texas A&M, before eventually signing with the Mustangs.

“When Coach [Tim] Jankovich would tell me things, I felt like he was being real and not just telling me what I wanted to hear,” said Hunt.

According to 247Sports, Hunt is ranked as the No. 130 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 11 player from the state of Texas. He joins Jahmar Young Jr. as the second commit in the Mustang’s 2018 class. Young has not signed yet, as he is awaiting his SAT scores, per Nikki Chavanelle. Over 100 players signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.

“I bring energy, defense, I can score, I can do a lot of things,” Hunt said. “I’m very good in transition, very athletic and I’m just going to do whatever coach needs me to do to win games. I like SMU’s team and I like the way they play. I’m glad to be apart of this program and cant’ wait to get on campus.”
