Mount Pleasant (UT) Wasatch Academy five-star wing Emmanuel Akot will reclassify and join Arizona for the coming season as a member of the 2017 class.

“After much thought, my family and I have decided to join the 2017 class and become a member of Arizona Basketball family next season,” Akot said in an announcement via Twitter. “I would like to thank those who helped me through my high school career, and I can’t wait to join A Players Program. BEAR DOWN.”

Arizona had already secured the fifth best class in the 2017 247Sports Composite Class Rankings. The addition of Akot moves the Wildcats up to number three overall, number one in the Pac-12, jumping UCLA for the top spot.

Akot joins five-star forward DeAndre Ayton, four-star shooting guard Brandon Randolph, four-star forward Ira Lee and four-star point guard Alex Barcello as the fifth member of the Wildcats 2017 class.

Akot told Scout he knew he was ready to reclass.

“I chose to reclass because I know I’m ready,” Akot said. “I want to get better and I know I will get pushed everyday at Arizona. I’ll be on a really good team too so this is a great opportunity for me.”

As part of this seasons adidas Gauntlet Summer Circuit, Akot has averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 26.3 minutes per for Exum Elite Utah Prospects.

Akot chose Arizona over Utah, Oregon and Louisville.
