2018 Point Guard Elijah Weaver Names Final Four

Elijah Weaver Final Four

Elijah Weaver, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Oldsmar Christian (FL) High School and Team Breakdown, named Ohio State, Florida, Oklahoma State, and USC as his final four schools on Wednesday via Twitter. Weaver broke down each school for Scout last week:

USC: “The coaching staff, mainly. We have a great relationship. We talk, if not every day, every other day. They just have a good plan I think. They want to bring me in, put me on the ball and just put great players around me so I can make plays and make my teammates better.”

Florida: “They were on me since I was in the 10th grade. Our relationship has built and grown ever since then. They have the same plan. They want to put the ball in my hands and let me run the show early.”

Ohio State: “They were making me a big priority when they were at Butler. I was their first offer when they moved to a new school, so that showed a lot. It really showed me how much they were interested. That’s what I’m looking for, what coach is going to be a man of their word, per se. They told me they were going to be at every game this summer and they were. They just want to put the ball in my hands.”

Oklahoma State: “Our relationship has been good. One of their assistants, Lamont Evans, he was a Breakdown guy. I play with Breakdown now. So we have those family ties. He always talks about how good they were back in the day and how they had the best breakdown team so we always talk about that and it just strikes up conversation. He feels like family. He talks to my dad and we don’t talk about basketball all the time, it’s more how we are doing. It’s more like family. Our connection is good.”

Weaver already has official visits planned for all four schools, starting with USC this weekend (Sept. 2). He will take visits to Ohio State (Sept. 9), Florida (Sept. 16), and Oklahoma State (Sept. 22) next month.

According to 247Sports, Weaver is ranked as the No. 35 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 8 player from the state of Florida. Before cutting his list, Weaver also held offers from schools such as Arizona, Butler, Georgia Tech, Missouri, NC State, UCLA, Virginia, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa State, Louisville, LSU, Memphis, Miami, Nebraska, and Villanova, among others.

2018 center Morris Udeze, who named his top five on Tuesday, also has Ohio State on his list of schools. Udeze will take an official to Ohio State next month (Sept. 15).
