For the second consecutive season, fourth all-time, Duke takes the top spot in the 2017-18 Coaches Poll. The Blue Devils finished at 28-9 in the 2016-17 season, eventually falling to Final Four participant South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Devils boast the overall No. 1 recruiting class coming into the season. A class consisting of three top ten members and four five-stars in Marvin Bagley (1), Trevon Duval (6), Wendell Carter (7) and Gary Trent Jr. (17). Four-stars Alex O’Connell and Jordan Tucker and three-star Jordan Goldwire round out the Blue Devils incoming class.

Duke returns preseason Player of the Year candidate Grayson Allen. The Blue Devils will have to replace Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles, Chase Jeter, Luke Kennard, Matt Jones, Frank Jackson, Amile Jefferson, Sean Obi and Nick Pagliuca to either the NBA Draft, transfer or eligibility.

Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky and Arizona round out the top five, although questions still remain on who will actually take the court for Kansas and Arizona — as well as other members of the Top 25 — based on the FBI probe.
